Detalus was co-founded in 1999 as Hancock by Steve Rull and Joseph Garea, and registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in September 2002. The name changed; the standard did not.
The firm exists for a specific moment: when a person or a family realizes they want to be sure they can afford what matters, whether that is a child’s education, a long retirement, the freedom to travel, or a legacy left behind. Detalus turns that uncertainty into a documented plan and manages it over the decades it takes to reach.
How we think about the work
Financial advice at this level is not about predicting markets or chasing performance. It is about defining clear goals, building a plan that reaches them, and reviewing that plan with discipline as life changes.
